The Perk lab had a distinguished visitor on October 25, Dr. Hans Ringertz from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Dr. Ringertz, first and foremost, is a radiologist and eminent interventionalist. Until his formal retirement a few years ago, he was a member of the Nobel Prize Committee in medicine and physiology for 22 years and he also headed the committee.
In the Perk Lab, Dr. Ringertz saw demonstrations of our image-guided surgery navigation systems and performed spinal interventions on the Perk Station training platform. The ever curious explorer, he participated in our first tracked ultrasound-guided nephrostomy experiments. (Please click on the image for a full view.) Dr. Ringertz provided invaluable insights and advice from the perspective of an experienced interventionalist. It was a great joy and privilege to host Dr. Ringertz in the Perk Lab.
