Thomas Kuiran Chen PhD, MSc, MEng

Short Biography

Thomas Kuiran Chen (PhD ABD, MSc, MEng) is an expert in ultrasound interventions for computer-assisted surgery, in particular, tracked ultrasound imaging, ultrasound calibration, and ultrasound beamwidth profiling. He holds a patent (2010-2011 pending) for an ultrasound beamwidth profiling system. He is the recipient of 12 international/national awards, prizes and scholarships, including the prestigious Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools (NAGS) Master's Thesis Award in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, & Engineering for 2005/2006, and Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS) 2006-2009. He has a balanced background in both academia and industry where prior to his PhD research at Queen's University at Kingston, Canada, he had worked as a senior software consultant, system analyst and system designer in finanical and software industry at Asia Pacific region, including Hewlett-Packard (HP) Singapore, Reuters Asia, Arthur Andersen Business Consulting Pte. Ltd., and The Development Bank of Singapore (DBS).
