Motivation: High quality 3D echocardiographic (ultrasound) datasets are now generated as part of everyday clinical workflow, but there is no open source 3D+t tool to visualize, interrogate and quantitate this information. The goal of this project is to develop an open-source general purpose modeling tool to enable ultrasound based cardiac research, valve research, and particularly pediatric valve research for which no proprietary tools exist.
Approach: Establish an easy-to-use environment in 3D Slicer to import, save, visualize, render and quantify 3D+t echo data. The developed tools should be intuitive and easy to use for non-technical personnel (clinical staff), but robust and scalable for research purposes and extension to automated methods.
