The SlicerRT toolkit provides a wide range of general and specialized software tools for radiation therapy research. These modules allow the researcher and also the clinician to perform advanced radiation therapy workflows. However, in order to fulfill its ultimate purpose i.e. clinical translation, end-user applications are needed to facilitate workflow-based usage of these "building blocks", so that the clinician can focus on the task at hand.
These workflow-based applications are called slicelets, and they are the top-level pieces of software that facilitate routine clinical use of cutting edge research. Such tasks can be
- Dose accumulation: determining the real administered dose over a number of fractions, correcting for patient setup and anatomical variances
- Contour propagation: Generate segmented structure set for a daily anatomy based on the planning structures and the deformable registration result between the two anatomies
