Elastography, the computation of the spatial variation of the elastic modulus of tissue, is an emerging medical imaging method with medical applications such as tumor detection. Through analysis of the ultrasound images, a tissue displacement map can be obtained. A least squares technique is then typically used to generate a low noise strain estimate from the displacement map.
